Due tosurfacecracksactinglikeblackbodies,theywillabsorbmoreenergythanthesurroundingmetal
and canbeidentified asawarmerareawhenimagedusinganinfraredcamera.Notchesaswellasreal
longitudinal coldcracksinaweldareinvestigatedusingthepresentedmethod.Theresultsshowthat
thermographyispromisingasamethodfordetectioncracksopentothesurface.
