Legumes are of indispensable importance for the protein supply in human and animal nutrition, and form a vital niche of virtually all ecological and agricultural environments. Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub is commonly called as cluster bean, a bushy annual legume occupies a major portion of moisture deficient areas and is considerably important in India for its nutritive values. Like other legumes, cluster bean improves nitrogen availability in soils and crop residues ploughed have been shown to increase significantly the yields of succeeding crops It is used in the reclamation of low fertility, high salinity and high alkalinity soils (Wong and Parmar, 1997).
