As you may know, the Buddha in India (6th century BCE) taught the Four Noble Truths:
(1) Life ultimately entails suffering (or dissatisfaction).
(2) We suffer because we crave what is pleasurable and seek to avoid what is painful, resulting in continual rebirth.
(3) We can end the cycle of rebirth by extinguishing desire to obtain and avoid.
(4) We can attain the outcome of extinguishing eternal rebirth by following the Eightfold Path of Buddhism.
