Hi! I'm Sandra Savignon, Professor Emerita of French and English as an International Language, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Professor Emerita of Applied Linguistics, Penn State University. My research has focused on issues related to second language acquisition, language testing, communicative language teaching and curriculum design. I have taught courses in second language acquisition, communicative language teaching (CLT), language and gender and World Englishes, drawing students from the College of Education and departments of Linguistics, French, German, and Spanish in the College of Liberal Arts. During my tenure at the University of Illinois I founded and directed the multidisciplinary doctoral program in Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education (SLATE).
