Outcomes of treatmentof cryptococcosis are quite varied. Long-termadministration of antifungal drugs is the crux of therapy(average of 8.5 months) and relapses occur frequently.Patients with the CNS form of cryptococcosis willrequire lifelong treatment maintenance. It isrecommended that treatment continue for one monthafter resolution of clinical signs in combination withdecrease in antigen titer by at least two orders of magnitude or until serum cryptococcal antigen isundetectable.
