At “The First SEAMIC Workshop”, held at the request of “The Second Southeast Asian Conference on Medical and Health Information Activities”, the gastrointestinal infection was chosen as one of the three main subjects of thematic approach in SEAMIC activities. Later the subject was adopted as the theme of the Second SEAMIC Seminar. The seminar was carefully planned and prepared with the cooperation of most outstanding specialists in the field of gastrointestinal infections in Japan. Thus the Second SEAMIC Seminar on the status of Gastrointestinal infections in Southeast Asia was held successfully in Tokyo from December 9th to 14th 1974. The purpose of the seminar was, of course, to stimulate the medical information activities pertaining to gastrointestinal infections, so as to contribute to the study, medical examination and treatment for those diseases, as well as to the measures for training the personnel in the medical and health information and so on.
