From the notes of Dr. Wilhelmina Lerna:
"When the first T.giganticus appeared, the world was shocked and terrified. A creature that got lost in the subsequent panic was the Megaloargonauta lusca, a massive octopus that appeared less than an hour after the dinosaur first waded onto Genericton's shores. Not without reason, of course, as the gargantuan cephalopod was brutally slaughtered by "the Terror," whose kin would gain worldwide fame (or perhaps infamy) in the years to come.
"The cephalopod's sudden appearance seemed even more random than the tyrannosaur's at first, but in hindsight it made sense. A popular theory is that the M.lusca had been pursuing the T.giganticus from the day it left Typhon Island to the day it came to Genericton, and was probably to blame for the high number of shipwrecks that occured before their final conflict.
"Another curiosity about the M.lusca was its seeming lack of a healing factor during its conflict with the T.giganticus. Later examination of its half eaten corpse (along with eye witness testimonies) showed that the M.lusca had shrapnel buried in practically every part of its body, suggesting the battleships it had destroyed before it faced the T.giganticus had managed to damage it extensively. It is likely that the cephalopod had already exhausted its healing factor, lacking the raw material to continue to regenerate its flesh. This allowed the T.giganticus to dispatch it with ease.
"Later another specimen of M.lusca would be discovered towards the end of the Second Age of Monsters. It was promptly corralled on Typhon Island where it could live in relative harmony and be studied. It was there that we learned of its color changing abilities.
"One final note: M.lusca seems to be a missing link between the prehistoric shelled octopi (Family Argonauta) and the modern, shell-less octopi of today. While lacking a true shell, M.lusca does have a number of thick armored scutes on its back, making up for the thin skin covering the rest of its body."
Character Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Team Affiliations: Sea Monsters
Episode Appearances: The Terror of Tyrantis, Invasion from Beyond Space
Personality/Temperment: M.lusca isn't a particularly aggressive or vicious kaiju, but it isn't particularly friendly either. The gigantic cephalopod is solitary by nature, preferring to hunt alone in peace. It can be relentless when in search of prey, though, and will chase its intended meal to the ends of the earth if necessary. M.lusca is incredibly intelligent and crafty as well, often setting traps and using its camouflage ability to catch its prey unawares. While not the most dangerous kaiju, it is still a force to be reckoned with.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
And so Lusca finally gets the respect he's warranted after years and years of being The Second Age of Monster's (or SAOM for short) chew toy. I'm even giving him a successor so his life isn't entirely inglorious - although he's still a C-list monster at best.
