Part features could be categorized into four major classifications (Kusiak 1990), namely design,
manufacturing, dimensions/tolerances, and geometric features. Design features are those characteristics
which are associated with the physical characteristics of the object. These may include the general shape
of the product and material. The manufacturing features of a product may include the steps required for
the production. These may include number of basic processes, type of basic processes, and types of tool
used. Geometric dimensions and tolerances are associated with the specification of the product design
