We applied maximum entropy distribution modeling or Max-ent (Phillips et al., 2006) to predict the potential suitable habitatfor R. trichophyllus and R. aquatilis, the two Batrachium specieswe recognized. We used both our own field records (30) andCONC herbarium records at Universidad de Concepción, Chile (27).We used the freely available Maxent software, version 3.3.3k(http://www.cs.princeton.edu/∼schapire/maxent/), which gener-ates an estimate of probability of presence of the species that variesfrom 0 to 1, where 0 is the lowest and 1 the highest probabil-ity. Environmental data layers were constructed for the 19 Bioclimvariables in addition to altitude (at 5-arcminute resolution) in theWorldclim data set (Hijmans et al., 2005).
