Previous research (Khalil et al., 2006) suggested kinetin
application for diminishing flower abscission and improving yield
of lentil plant. Auxins were the first plant hormone discovered
which are characterized by their ability to induce cell elongation in
stems and leaves and increase photosynthetic activities in plants.
Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) showed beneficial effect on flower
retention and subsequently on yield of lentil (Khalil et al., 2006)Growth retardant, Prohexadione-Calcium (Prohex-Ca), is an
inhibitor of late stages of GAs biosynthesis (Brown et al., 1997).
The data previously reported with Prohex-Ca applied through
foliage showed that Prohex-Ca evoked many different specific
biochemical, physiological or morphological responses like inhibition
of flowering, stem elongation, decreased chlorophyll contents,
changed chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics, decreased carbohydrates
content, yield, essential oil yield, stem and leaf affected
anatomy, stem and leaf dry masses and other growth parameters
(Kofidis et al., 2008; Ouzounidou et al., 2010). Topflor is also PGR
widely used in the landscape industry as growth retardant which
effectively reduces internodes elongation through the inhibition of
GAs biosynthesis (Olsen and Andersen, 1995)..
