Termites, just the same as ants, have castes such as workers, soldiers and winged reproductives. Due to their poor abdominal sclerization, especially in the worker caste, they appear white and are usually often called “white ants” in most part of the world (Pearce, 1999). But this common name is a misinterpret since they are only distantly related to the true ants or Formicidae, though the two groups offer striking analogies in structure and habits (Wilson, 1971).
