Based on analyzing the contribution of each process involved in each studied scenario in Resources damage category (Fig. 13), composting and to a lesser extent MSW transportation and landfilling were found to adversely affect this impact category, while incineration, AD and sorting processes were found to have favorable eco-friendly indexes in this damage category, respectively. Further analysis revealed that the inclusion of the composting process deteriorated the impact of scenario Sc-3 and Sc-1 on this damage category. This was in line with the findings of Hong et al. [30] who also claimed the composting process had a deteriorating impact (in view of resource damage category) on the overall incineration-based scenario when combined with the incineration process. This could be explained by the electricity and diesel consumption in the composting process. Similarly, the adverse effect of MSW transportation process could also be attributed to the consumption of diesel.
