Dear J1 participant,
No one can argue that time spent in the USA is extraordinary! Whether you are still in the U.S., have returned home or will be leaving for the U.S. soon, we want to remind you that all participants must file a U.S. tax return for each calendar year you work in the U.S.
Most J1 participants are eligible to receive a refund of most of the taxes deducted from their paychecks in the U.S.
Our long-term Tax refund partner AmberTax (ex. brand name formerly known as Student Tax Consulting) offers professional assistance and friendly commission rates on its services. AmberTax will make all efforts to get you the highest possible refunds in compliance with US tax law and to meet your USA Tax Return filing obligations. There is no up-front payment for AmberTax service – you will pay only when you get your Tax Refund.
Since GEC has negotiated with AmberTax a special lowest service fee in the market (10% from the amount refunded, but not less than $50 for federal and states tax refund) for Tax Refund services for our Work and Travel USA/Internship/Trainee program participants, we strongly encourage you to use AmberTax for obtaining your USA Income Tax Refund.
To apply for your USA Tax Refund, please register at AmberTax web page (http://www.ambertax.com/gec) and you will be contacted for further instructions what to do. Don't worry if you do not have some of required documents, AmberTax will help you in replacing it.
