Although I do agree that the education system needs to be reformed in order to better prepare students for the hardships of everyday life, I do have a fundamental problem with a lot of the claims being made. First of all how can we institutionalize "self discovery", the importance of self discovery is that it is a process which you create. Do you think it can be systematically dissected so that it can be taught on a mass scale within the school system? Furthermore the idea of choosing a career within your early years of education and then focusing the rest of your studies on this task will be completely detrimental to students. I didn't know what I wanted to do in high school, and choosing a job only because it is deemed that I am most suited for it seems like it would limit a lot of self growth and opportunities.
