3.4. Effect of temperature on seed longevity in Tillandsia species
The seed germination percentage of T. hubertiana seeds was related to the time from harvest (2= 439.3; P < 0.0001), storage temperatures (2= 251.9; P < 0.0001) and the interaction between these two factors (2= 147.6; P < 0.0001).
The quadratic effect was less important than the linear component and increased the fit of the model by less that 2.5%. Model parameters showed that, for those seeds stored at room temperature, seed germination percentage declines linearly and less steep than in seeds stored at cool temperatures (Fig. 5a).
