This is the iconic park of Ubon Ratchathani. It houses the replica of the famous Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival held every year in July. It also contains the City Pillar Shrine, an altar dedicated to the city pillar present in most cities of Thailand and a monument to the glory of Phra Pathum Worarat Suriyawong, the founder of the city. It is especially in the evening when the sun goes down and the heat is more suitable that the park becomes alive. People arrive for their jogging or for the aerobics group session, play basketball, use the fitness equipment... Or simply eat at the night market which is just next door. Do not expect to make beautiful walks in Thung Si Muang Park, it is mainly a large meadow surrounded by a few paths and a small moat filled with water.
