Summary
The CNC 1 operates CNC machine/manufacturing processes in a safe and organized manner, under moderate supervision/monitoring and performs other assembly and fabrication operations in close quarters with other cell members The CNC 1 also has basic manufacturing/quality knowledge and is trained to make minor offset adjustments at floor management direction. The CNC 1 is familiar with and uses dispatch list at floor management direction, is flexible, works effectively as a member of a work team/cell, and is actively involved in cross-training and assists co-workers in cross-training.
Responsibilities
Reads work instructions to determine job specifications, machine adjustments, and material requirements
The operator is responsible for producing a quality product using the quality plans and work instructions
Documents work completed using the manufacturing system
Makes minor offset adjustments to CNC equipment and uses controls under guidance of a mentor or supervisor to adhere to established specifications
Awareness of procedures to use around hazardous materials. Recognizes HAZMAT conditions and alerts appropriate personnel
Uses dial calipers, snap gauges or micrometers
Monitors work to ensure that machine /equipment is not malfunctioning
Reports malfunctions in a timely manner to appropriate personnel
Stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces
Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Reads and interprets documents like safety rules and instructions
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
3+ months of related experience
Certification or training in such things as CNC machining
