The Prime Minister has voiced his concerns over the outbreak of dengue fever in Thailand following reports of dengue cases.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said he had instructed the Ministry of Public Health and provincial health offices to raise public awareness of dengue fever and urge citizens to destroy mosquito breeding grounds every 7 days.
Mosquito breeding grounds can be at home, in schools and workplaces, or public areas, he said.
He asked all hospitals to thoroughly diagnose the disease and provide suitable medical procedures.
The Prime Minister also asked the public to avoid mosquito bites and see a doctor immediately should symptoms be found.
Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles.
