Rheological behaviour of these gels was
studied along with characterization by GPC,
XRD, SEM and TGA techniques. New
hydrophobic derivatives of guar were prepared
by Ahmad Bahamdan56 by reacting hydroxyl
functional group of GG with series of
polyalkoxyalkyleneamide. Reaction sequence
included carboxymethylation ,methylation and
amidation of guar as shown by scheme 3.
Grafting ratio was confirmed by FTIR and NMR
techniques. Application of these hydrogels in
hydraulic fracturing fluid composition was also
studied by Ahmad Bahamdan and William H.
Daly.Cross linking of polyethylene glycol
diglycidylether (PEGDGE) to guar polymer was
done by G. Leone and R. Barbucci58 to create
a new hydrogel to use in biomedical field.
These hydrogel wer examined by FTIR, AFM
and SEM analysis.
