Cassava is mainly grown in tropical areas including Asia (annual root production of 48 million t with 37.5% from Thailand, 31.2% from Indonesia,12.5% from India and 8.3% from China), Africa(annual root production of 84 million t with 35.7% from Nigeria, 20% from the Democratic Republic of Congo and 8.4% from Ghana) and Latin America (annual root production of 32 million t with 75% from Brazil and 9.7% from Paraguay).
