For a better understanding of the influence of the reprocessing effect on the thermal properties of PC, several polycarbonate frac- tions were analyzed. Samples of reprocessed PC were not used for this purpose due to their small interval of molecular weight. Table 1 shows the molecular weight of the polycarbonate fractions as well as the corresponding values of both the glass transition temper- ature (Tg) and the initial degradation temperature (Ti). As shown, both Tg and Ti values increased slightly with the molecular weight for the polycarbonate fractions.
Table 2 shows the thermal and mechanical properties, as well as flow indexes values, after the injection molding cycles of PC sam- ples (maximum 10 injection cycles). The analyzed properties of PC samples reprocessed by extrusion (10 cycles maximum), are shown in Table 3. The analyzed properties were only the thermal prop- erties and the flow index because an analysis of the mechanical properties would involve an additional injection reprocessing to obtain the necessary probes and then, the effect of both types of reprocessing (extrusion + injection) would be obtained.
