Triplicate samples of 4.0, and 1.0 g soils (b2 mm sieved) were
suspended in 8 mL of 0.005 M DTPA (Quevauviller et al., 1996), and
10 mL of 0.43 M HNO3 (Groenenberg et al., 2010), respectively and
shaken end-over-end in polypropylene centrifuge tubes, for 2 h.
Suspensions were then centrifuged at 2500 rpm for 15 min and the
supernatant was filtered (0.22 μm, Millex® Millipore) and acidified to
produce 2% HNO3 prior to multi-element analysis by ICP-MS.
