Participants
Of the 468 participants, 248 (53 %) were Caucasian, 22 (5 %) African-American, 27 (6 %)
Hispanic-American, 10 (2 %) Asian or Native American; 10 (2 %) reported “other”, and 151
failed to report ethnicity. Age ranged from 18 to 81 years with a mean age of 49.85. The
sample was predominantly female; 356 (76 %) were female and 62 (13 %) were male; 50
(11 %) did not report gender. Participants reported employment status as follows: 183 (39 %)
full time; 160 (34 %) part time; and 125 (27 %) volunteers. Approximately 60 % of the
participants indicated they held K-12 teacher certification.
