Taking data from the survey, initially 100 collection points were
considered, the total waste cooking oil received was calculated to
be 182,000 l annually. A conventional method of production was
considered in these cases, that is, a mechanical agitation batch technique. The electricity and power consumption was calculated from
power ratings of the reactor and pumps. Water consumption is
calculated for wet treatment of produced biodiesel to remove the
residual methanol and the process is being built in as part of the
reactor. Scenario 1 is different from scenario 2 only in the consideration of oil incentive at 1 AED per liter of WCO to the producer,
as scenario 2 does not consider any such compensation. Since the
process is being carried out by mechanical agitation, 80% pure yield
of biodiesel was assumed and the selling price was calculated for
this stipulated percentage. The subsidy required was calculated by
the difference in selling price and petro-diesel price and the IRR and
NPV were calculated accordingly. The production plant capacity is
150,000 l annually.
