DISPARITIES
Some differetices in rates of death due to
injury occur along racial/ethnic lines. For example,
whites have higher rates of fell-related deaths
than do Asian/Pacific Islanders, African Americans,
and Native American/Alaska Natives.
Non-Hispanics have higher rates than Hispanics.
Moreover, fall death rates among whites
have increased since the mid 1990s. Between
1990 and 1998, the annual relative increase in
fall death rates for whites was 3.8 percent
(Stevens and Dellinger, 2002).
