Task Analysis:
1. Place the three measuring cups before the student and show the labels as well as discuss the different sizes. Ask the student to point to the different cups based on their name (1/4 cup,1/2 cup, and 1 cup). If difficulty is encountered, label the cups with stickers or some other marking to make them easier to differentiate
2. Using the same concept as in Step 1, have the student identify the grits, popcorn kernels, and cereal.
3. Assist the student in pouring the dry ingredients into the various measuring cups. Reduce assistance to only verbal cues.
4. Randomly ask the student to select various measuring devices and various dry ingredients, reducing prompting until the objective is met.
5. Once the objective has been met, work with the student in making something such as cookies to demonstrate the skill's practical use.
