Women (n=544) vs. men (n=3,174)
Mean (SD) age of women and men were 34.5 (11.8) and 35.4
(12.1) years, respectively. Both age and education were not signifi-
cantly different between groups (p's= 0.12 and 0.19, respectively)
(see Table 1). Women had fewer singles and more separates/divorces/
widows (pb0.01). The proportion of respondents with alcohol dependence
and number of endorsed criteria were significantly smaller in
women (p'sb0.01).
