Yeast autolysate (S. cerevisiae, InteWall, 2 g/kg) and black
cumin seed (Nigella sativa L., 15 g/kg) in the diets for laying
hens had beneficial effects on egg cholesterol content and humoral
immune response. The usage of yeast autolysate also
improved egg weight and feed conversion, tended to increase
daily egg production and decreased the blood serum levels of
cholesterol and triglyceride. The usage of black cumin seed
decreased egg weight and increased MUFA and UFA in egg
yolk. Significant interactions were found in egg yolk cholesterol,
MUFA in egg yolk and cholesterol, triglyceride, and
ALP levels in blood serum and anti SRBC titer between yeast
autolysate and black cumin seed supplementation.
