In order to utilise the resilience of quantum dots in high resolution SNOM imaging, E-cadherin was subsequently labelled with commercial, pre-conjugated, core-shell CdSe/ZnS quantum dots with emission wavelength 605 nm. The quantum dots are available bound to various high-affinity biomolecules. For this study, quantum dots coupled to a secondary antibody were utilised. These in turn bind to E-cadherin via an intermediate primary antibody.
