b. The school and government agencies
The educational system with the help of government, can
serve as another important medium for propagating the
Culture-centered approach. The Ministries and Departments
of Education and Information Services in African
countries need to review their educational curriculum to
include training on the safe use of social networks. Currently,
only a few schools and universities in Africa offer
courses which provide training on the use of social media.
Many youths in Africa acquire their social media skills
informally from friends or by trial and error online. Till
date, many African youths are not aware of the immense
educational and business opportunities social networks
offer. Social networks are mostly seen as media for chatting,
posting comments and pictures or playing computer
games.
