I wanted to get a degree that was actually valuable. I was studying international business originally, but my brother convinced me that accounting would be a better way to go. After doing some research, I learned that there is a great demand, it pays well, and it isn't as boring as commonly believed.
So I switched, and I'm glad for it. I had a job offer from a CPA firm 8 months before I graduated, and I'm only 22 years old making more money than most of my friends.
Plus, I'd like to be a professor someday, and accounting professors are direly needed.
