Pull the probe carefully from the food, beverage or other substance when finished.
Clean the unit before storage.
Wipe the probe with a soft, soapy lint-free microfiber or anti-bacterial cloth to remove food and/or oil and then rinse under lukewarm tap water.
Wipe the housing unit with a damp microfiber cloth or anti-bacterial cloth. Dry with a microfiber cloth or air-dry.
Return thermometer back into position and store.
Refer to the User Manual for your specific thermometer to determine the type of battery/batteries needed and the correct method for opening the compartment/replacement.
If your thermometer model has an “Instrument Configuration Switch Panel” inside the battery compartment to change factory default settings, reference the User Manual to determine the switch types.
Never immerse your Thermapen in water, as it isn't waterproof.
Immersion can not only damage the unit, but also void any warranties.
Never forcefully press the probe's tip against a hard surface as doing so can damage its micro-thermocouple sensor and cause inaccurate readings.
Bending the hollow probe shaft or unfolding it too far (more than 180 degrees) from the plastic housing can also cause damage.
Never use the probe to shift or turn food— as you would with a spatula or tongs tongs—as doing so can bend the probe shaft.
Always insert the probe into the thickest part of the food to confirm that the food has cooked thoroughly.
Always pull any food cooking inside of an oven out of the oven's interior before taking a temperature reading as the heat inside of the oven can damage the unit.
