Duo Thaitai, consisting of talented Thai and Taiwanese pianists - Nicha Stapanukul and Pin-Ching Tsai - will delight their Bangkok audience with a joint performance at Goethe Institute's auditorium on June 27 at 6.30 pm
The programme includes Mozart's Sonata For Two Pianos In D major,K448; Shostakovich's Suite In F-Sharp Minor For Two Pianos, Op 6; Chopin's Rondo In C Major For two Pianos, Op 73; and Rachmaninoff's Suite For Two Pianos, Op 5.
Both are outstanding pianists and both have received a Bachelor of Music degree from the prestigious Pea-body Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. They formed the duo ThaiTai during their studies to achieve a diverse piano duo repertoire and to celebrate their friendship.
Award-winning Nicha performs as a soloist and chamber musician across the world, including Thailand, Spain, the UK and the US.
Among her accolades are first prize of the Kasetsart University's Haydn and Mendelssohn Piano Concerto Competition, winner of the Conrad Young Musicians of Thailand Competition and second prize of the MTNA Indiana Regionals Competition.
Nicha has plans to get a Master of Music from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
Pianist Pin-Ching preforms as a solo and collaborative musician in the US and Taiwan. In recent seasons she has appeared at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, as well as at Bach and Linghsuan Halls in Taiwan. She will return to Peabody for her graduate studies.
There is no admission fee, but donations are welcome at the door. All proceeds will go to Sarnelli Hours, an orphanage for abandoned children and children with HIV/Aids
