Our living room is just that, the "living" room. Our house is a small Cape Cod style, four rooms downstairs, three rooms upstairs. When I need comfort, security, healing or just to feel at peace, I sit in my chair in the living room. When I don't feel well, as has been the case lately due to med changes, my chair becomes even more important. It's rare that I'll stay in bed all day. I sit in my chair. Think of it as the command center of the Starship Enterprise. I keep my books, knitting, magazines, music, etc., all within easy reach.
The most special memories of that chair and the living room are having pictures taken with my grandchildren every year at Christmas and again on Mother's Day. I may have had to replace the chair but not the place in the room and not the purpose it serves for me.
