Although a large number of devices and systems
have been developed to address these
issues (see the ‘‘Related Work’’ sidebar), there
have been relatively few studies specifically focusing
on technology for persons with early
stage dementia. In the project described here,
we are aiming to develop and evaluate an entirely
novel system for providing frequent
memory prompts to those persons with mild
stage AD. The initial concept and vision of
this cell phone video streaming (CPVS) system
have been presented previously.5 This article
provides an update to the previously presented
work and reports on the results and user experiences
following a pretrial evaluation of the first
iteration of the CPVS system.
