carries out its R&D activities in Fujifilm Advanced Research Laboratories in Japan. This laboratory complex consists of several
scientists and engineers from group companies to collaborate on research and development. The company carries out research in
the fields of organic synthesis, thin multi-layer coatings, precision micromachining, lens design, lasers, printing, and image
processing. In last three years, the group invested JPY506,826m in research and development activities. Strong R&D activities
enabled the company to develop a host of proprietary technologies. Fujifilm owns highly versatile fundamental technologies,
including organic and inorganic materials, analysis, thin-film formation and processing, image and software, optics, and
mechatronics, in areas such as photosensitized materials and xerography. Such sound R&D infrastructure enables the company to
differentiate its offerings from those of its competitors.
