First things first, the models walking this show knew what they were going for and gave an Oscar winning performance by walking like b*tches that just didn’t give a sh*t. Second, the clothes were very dark and Gothic in a gorgeous way as opposed to the “I wear sadness and love death” kind of way. Lastly corsets were everywhere and I love me a good corset. Corseted coats, belts and gloves.
I have to also talk about the jagged accessories that added depth and dimension to the entire collection. Feathers were used on war like garments that spiked the outfits with courage. Large belts that had binding rope were hanging loose and across the legs, and long pieces of fur were used in the belts, as necklaces, and tied up in the models hair creating a very punky feel.
This show was also heavy on the fur. Faux as I assume it is it was exceptional and all throughout the collection. Some looks were completely covered in fur and others used just a little as accents. The coats made of this (I’m going to call it hair because of the long length and smooth texture) was were stunning and had such movement when the models walked the catwalk. The all black show had it’s one pop of color from within the nest of hair that covered these models. A glimmer of red that streaked the yeti suits. Very similar to the Chanel full body suits in faux fur but mostly all black and way longer in length. Regardless of how hairy they looked when these suits were paired with those thigh high black leather boots they looked hot! Also literally hot the models must have been svetsning!
But how much black can a person really wear? Personally I could wear it everyday, as long as the silhouette was great and Ann demeulemeester has shown us how to make black an everyday choice with fabulous diversity.
