Am going through the design work in detail today, but from a quick glance so far, it looks good.
A couple of comments initially (in case designers are working this weekend, which I doubt!)
Cover
The general layout/look of the cover is fine, but
We need the title to stand out more, at the moment the photo dominates too much.
Also, the photo is not the best.
And the EMM4 logo needs to be bigger so it is visible, maybe +50%.
Based on the above, could we please see some more cover versions, not new design look but with stronger title, bigger logo, and then three or four other photo options.
Inside photos
The photos should match to some degree the content on the relevant page, or chapter. Bopha needs to help with this.
Also, the photos are very much environment/local people livelihood focused. Whereas this publication is broader than rural environment. Some energy, urban, transport, tourism etc photos would be good to a) reflect the broad scope of development in the GMS, b) also reflects the key sectors that ADB works in as well as the need for natural capital investments cross-sector.
BOPHA, please liaise directly with Pat and team on detailed photo selection and provide additional photos as required on Monday morning. Below is some general guidance below looking at the text next to current photo placement. Some of the photos currently used may be best used elsewhere in the report, although new photos will be needed for the most part.
Introduction pg 1:
Page 2: Something a bit more GMS wide? development landscape (not close up a person)
Page 7: energy photo here would be good, or food crop production, or water for agriculture/energy (hydropower?)
Page 10: a photo more aligned with climate change
Page 21: Has to be something to do with water (and pref climate change) coastal storm/erosion would be ideal, or floods (bangkok floods) or something
Page 41: needs to be a photo to do with transboundary landscapes, protected areas etc
Page 46: its a bit dull for a full page photo
Page 48: this section is about looking forward and positive change - the photo here looks like destruction or something - need a more positive development photo
Page 54: a positive (non-destructive) business (maybe sustainable looking agriculture) photo would be better.
Page 55: the person in the middle of this photo looks like a development tourist (ie someone on a field trip from ADB or something?) please replace
Page 60: transport truck photo good idea, but this is not a very nice picture, we have much better transport/truck photos please use one.
Page 65: Landscape photo here has no relationship to planning/tools/decision making -- use some people photo discussing/planning/mapping
