With the financial assistance of the GEF and the World Bank, EBM for recovering and sustaining marine goods and services is being implemented in 110 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and eastern Europe. The projects involve multiple sectoral interests where EBM practice is applied to recover fish stocks, sustain fish populations, restore and enhance habitats , reduce pollution, control effluents and nutrient over-enrichment, address acidification, and mitigate and adapt to climate change. Collaborative transboundary governance arrangements involving countries sharing the resources of a LME are forged to overcome sectoral barriers and mutually tackle urgent issues affecting marine resources across boundaries.
