a) Phonemic awareness- Be able to listen, perceive and classify phonemes of English
and manipulate the speech sounds into syllables and words.
b) Phonics-Letters-sound correspondence by efficient programs for constructing
permanent brain-fibers to be able to decode scripts into sounds automatically and
permanently.
c) After gaining fluency in (a) and (b) above, whole word method or whole language
can be practiced by reading which should manage vocabulary acquisition
according to the level of the student. The more they read, the more they will be

This method helps the students improve word recognition better than only
teaching by whole word method or whole language as we are done teaching English in
Thailand
