Operating Point
Normally, the machine is not set to run at maximum power in order to center the process. The hydraulic pressure and/or shot speed are reduced to move the line down and to the left from the max poser line. The operating version of the line is shown in red in the following diagram.
The intersection of the die line and the machine line is the operating point. This point is marked by the horizontal and vertical dashed black lines. The pressure value P denotes the pressure on the metal as it passes through the gate into the void of the cavity. The corresponding flow rate value Q is the approximate flow rate as the metal enters the cavity and is proportional to the gate speed, i.e. the linear speed of the metal as it passes through the gate.
