In North America, grasslands are known as prairies. In South Africa, they are known as veldt and in center of Eurasia, they are known as steppes. Grasslands are generally open, fairly flat lands of grass. Trees and large shrubs are usually absent.
Many animals live in grassland. Grasshoppers, antelope, coyotes, bison and zebras are some common animals living in grassland. Kangaroos are found in the grassland of Australia.
