in a paper in the international journal of science education, dorion (2009) reported the outcomes of his MEd project looking at the use of drama-based activities in teaching science concepts. Not all science teachers feel confident in using such arts-based teaching approaches, but-when they are used- they are often found very engaging and memorable by students. One secondary student,'Marag', I interviewed about her school science lessons spontaneously stood up and starting acting out being a molecule as she had in her science lesson! (This example is described in more detail at https://camtools.cam.ac.uk/wiki/eclipse/Morag.html) Dorion's study "focused on teachers' own drama activities in five science lessons [exploring] the drama forms, teaching objectives, and characteristics by which drama was perceived to enable learning in Science". Dorion reported that "drama activities were used to convey a variety of topics that not yet been recorded in academic literature, and revealed a greater scope for the teaching of abstract scientific concepts through mime and role play" (2009, p. 2247).
