In addition to the well demonstrated biocontrol capacity of
these strains, previous studies have shown the ability of Aur 9 and
Aur 6 to induce systemic resistance in the model system A.
thaliana-P. syringae DC3000, protecting 70% and 25%, respectively.
Both have shown their ability to prime A. thaliana based on the
increase in ethylene production after pre-incubation with ACC, a
typical response to priming (Conrath et al., 2002), and to significant
increases in PAL activity; C. balustinum (Aur 9) induces PR1
expression and bacterial cell wall lipopolysaccharides are the
elicitors of the defensive response (Ramos Solano et al., 2008b).
However, no other data is available about its effects on rice yet.
