Repellency test
Repellency was tested in a plastic container consisting of 4
sections with dimensions of 5 × 8 cm (Figure 1). Diets, which
were mixed with microcapsules (1:1, w/w) using SLS, T80, and
P127 as emulsifiers, were placed in each section. In one section,
only diet was set. Fifty 3rd and 4th larvae were introduced to the
center of the container. After 7 d, insects, which remained in each
section were counted and removed, and then new insects were
put into the container. This procedure was performed repeatedly
for 4 wk to measure the long-lasting repellency of microcapsules.
The trials were conducted in triplicate at 25 ◦C and 60% RH.
