The gel phase in rubber samples after SH is soft-gel originated by micelle formation between phospholipids molecules. This finding confirmed by the decrease in gel content of stored FNR after the addition of 2% v/v ethanol into rubber solution and complete decomposition of the gel fraction after transesterification Significant increase in the plasticity, gel content and molecular weight between the crosslinks (Mc) when the samples were kept under low humidity condition suggested an important role of the humidity on gel formation during SH. The proposed structure of gel formation during ASHT based on all of findings mentioned above was schematically illustrated in Figure 17.
