[For those who have installed Good for Enterprise on Android devices ONLY]
Recently three critical vulnerabilities have been discovered which impact about 95 % of all Android devices. This means that smartphones and tablets from all well-known manufactures are affected.
By exploiting these vulnerabilities an Android-device can be manipulated or even taken over completely by an attacker. Any user´s private data which is stored on the smart devices can be stolen and the device can even be manipulated in such a way that an attacker could infect other platforms – such as your PC – with malicious software.
Due to the fact that the Allianz application “Good for Enterprise” is installed on a significant number of Android devices as well as that the Allianz Virtual Client can be used on these Devices the vulnerabilities may also put Allianz data and User-Credentials at risk.
Specialists from the AMOS Security Operations Center (SOC) have already initiated investigations on this issue. Since - for the time being - the use of Good for Enterprise on existing Android installations will still be possible, we kindly ask you to follow the general recommendations described below:
General recommendations:
• Disable auto download and do not accept multimedia files delivered by MMS, mails, web downloads, phone memory cards, Bluetooth / NFC transfers or instant messengers (like WhatsApp or Viber)
• Disable the MMS capability of your phone by deleting the MMS-Server Information from the device-settings
• Disable all auto-notifications (these might use the vulnerability to infect your device with malware without you even noticing it)
• Delete any suspicious application off your smart device. Have only those apps installed on your smart devices which you deem absolutely necessary.
• Do not open links or attachments in emails that offer “patches”
• Disable any permanent WIFI-connections (otherwise your phone might connect to malicious access points that pretend to be trusted ones)
• Do not - under any circumstances - connect your mobile device with any computer via USB
We will inform you in a timely manner on any significant changes with regards to the risk for “Good for Enterprise. If you have questions regarding the above mentioned recommendations, please contact your device vendors helpdesk or in case it is a company device – please contact your local Allianz helpdesk.
