This approach focuses on the process of personality formation from a very early stage-often before birth-and gives a central role to the relations in reality but also, and often more importantly, in fantasy between the developing personality and the person( or people) who take the primary role in caring. In effect, we are here dealing with the caring work of women which is at the core of Hilary Rose's version of standpoint epistemology, but from the perspective of the infant and child who is the recipient of the care.
