A hybrid biomass–charcoal gasier in which air
was supplied in three stages was designed, fabricated
and tested for internal combustion engine application
as shown in Fig. 1. It was designed in such a
way that charcoal gasication is expected to start
at the end of multi-stage biomass (coconut shell)
gasication.
The main body of the gasier was fabricated using
a 3mm thick mild steel sheet with 300mm inner
diameter. A 50mm thick layer of (castable-13) insulation
was applied on the inside surface of the gasi-
er. So the e?ective internal diameter of the gasier
was 200mm. The gasier consisted of four detachable
sections.
