This is because there is no need for the firm to take time and effort to produce affiliations and emotional attachments with other actors in order to request some information. In addition, actors focus directly on the immediate benefit of their firms rather than a long term benefit which cannot be guaranteed. Moreover, information that arm’s-length ties seek might vary among a wide range of actors and sources compared to the information derived from a network with embedded ties.
